Business Office Space : Buying Or Renting?

If big steady businesses are looking for new offices, that office will probably be purchased. For the rest of businesses, renting office space is the most fiscally responsible option. Owning office space is not the only sign of successful business. In fact, renting is more popular then ever and has become the norm for new businesses. This is because business and the economy are unpredictable. In the event that something goes wrong, you may be locked into owning office space that you no longer want.

As with any business or financial decision, it is important to not just jump into renting an office. Before you do, consider your company – its goals, projected success – and what size office you will need if business goes to plan. If you own a small and already successful business with two or three employees, there is no need to rent a bigger space than you need. If all signs in your new business point to expansion, make sure you rent a larger space.

Renting office space is the perfect starting block for business. It allows that trial and error space in the first few years of a business’ existence. Because of the uncertainty of business, renting provides flexibility. If you purchase an office and your business experiences financial problems, you are not only stuck with the office, but lose a lot of money. Renting an office as a new business can help the business learn exactly what it is that they need and what they don’t need. As time progresses and the business grows, offices can be moved.

Renting office space is often less stressful than owning office space. In general, renting space means that there is a landlord or owner or some kind that has to take care of problems in the building. If the roof leaks or the air conditioning needs repairing, that does not have to be done by you. It will be the landlord, not your company, responsible for maintaining the building. If you were to buy an office, all the maintenance costs would fall on your company.

One of the problems with buying office space is that you might have to settle for less than what you’re looking for if that’s all that is available. When that happens, the business must use their own finances for any upgrades and changes to the office. For businesses looking to rent office space, real estate agencies can help them find precisely what they are looking for, perfect for moving right in. And if it doesn’t suit the business, the office can be changed when agreements have expired.

The Benefits Of Participating In A Trade Show

If you’re a business owner, participating in trade shows is one of the most effective marketing tools you have at your disposal. Aside from being the perfect venue for marketing your products and services directly to the consumer, trade shows also offer the rare opportunity for making a great first impression. Studies have shown that 90 percent of all people who attend trade shows are either consumers who purchase a product or service or businesses owners who make contact with a consumer looking to do business sometime in the near future.

In the business world, qualified and reliable leads are often the difference between meeting your sales goal and falling short. This is especially true in the tough economic climate we now find ourselves in. Trade shows, however, can help businesses solve this dilemma. Large trade shows in any sector give you as the business owner close access to consumers who, by their very attendance at the show, have demonstrated an interest in what you have to sell. This means that the first goal of marketing—generating interest—has already been accomplished; these consumers are already motivated to buy. Failing to attend these trade shows may allow your primary competition to take full advantage of these potential leads instead of you.

There is, of course, more to gain at trade shows than merely leads and potential customers. These shows also offer a great opportunity for networking and the sharing of ideas. Here you’ll have the opportunity to speak to up to 100 people or more a day, all of whom are facing many of the same struggles, frustrations and successes as your business.

Whether this is the first trade show you will attend or if you’re an old veteran of the trade show scene, to get the most out of this experience you should first spend some time and identify what you’re hoping to accomplish. Doing this will help you take full advantage of all that the trade show has to offer, leaving you more time to seek out new clients.

As a salesperson, you know full well how important it is to your business or organization to develop a tight network through which you can exchange ideas and further the goals of the company. The great things about trade shows is that they bring leaders of your field together—whatever the business—and make networking much more efficient. Failing to participate in these shows, while certainly your prerogative, could mean missing out on a valuable opportunity to meet and learn from other forward-thinking professionals in your field.
