3 Tips To Writing Effective Google AdWords Ads

There are so many tales about the effectiveness and sheer power found in Google AdWords. You can take the three techniques for writing great Google AdWords, and when you’re done you can login to your account and make it happen.

As you know, people use specific keywords that help them reach their desired site. Always put your ad group keywords/phrase in your ads for maximum effect. You can’t write your ad copy without really caring about your primary keyword. You want to get all the advantage you can, and using your keywords like that will help you just a little bit more. Ok, fine… so it’s really pretty easy because you’ll use your keyword in the body copy for the ad and the title or headline. If you’re having a hard time with conversions, then really nothing else matters other than figuring out what is wrong. You can get creative later, but for now you need to really get grounded in the simple things you need to do. Besides that, adding too much of creativity might kill the purpose of your ad. Don’t forget that you’ll be testing headlines, but do put intelligent thought into them. Many PPC advertisers use keywords in their headlines, and you can too; but nothing wrong with testing a really killer headline without the keyword in it. You may find that the keyword should be in it, but you won’t know until you test it. When your searchers come looking for a certain product, they’ll be looking for that one keyword that they used to search for it. So the bottom line is really always test and go with what converts; that is the golden rule of advertising and marketing. Google pays you for being relevant, which is why it’s important for you to have the right keyword in your ad. Your quality score will be better, but more factors are involved with your actual click through rate.

Your PPC ads must convert, and if you’re not experienced writing advertising copy then it really can be a challenge. This is why you should try to keep your ad to the point instead of adding irrelevant content to your copy. You have a total of 60 characters, 25 for the title and 35 for the ad body, and that includes spaces! The headline and ad body must work together to compel total strangers to want to see what it’s all about. Remember, there’s no second chance when it comes to grabbing the attention of the searcher, it’s now or never. Your headline must really grab people, and then your ad needs to take over and do its job. Now you see why you should only do this after you have read good information that teaches you how to do PPC advertising. Sure, the competition is tough, but you can certainly succeed with knowledge and experience. You can try different benefits and test them against each other. You can get a lot of click throughs with “free,” but a good percentage will only be tire-kickers. Avoid being cute in your advertising, and always write in a clear manner. You never want the surfer to discover something that isn’t relevant to what they thought they were getting.

Last but not the least; try to weave in a story in your ad copy. We’ll explain how you do this because we know you’re scratching your head. Sympathy and empathy are powerful feelings, and that is what you want to make people feel with your ad. Of course you can always split test this, but you should try it because it is very powerful when done just right.

The more you study and write ads, the better you’ll become at it. Be sure to study the higher ranking ads in yours and other markets, and that will help you to write better ads. After a while it will all become second nature to you. Just make sure you give it enough time, so that you’re able to create copy that gets results.

Gulf Oil Spill – Political Search Engine Marketing

In this screencast, David Erickson of the e-Strategy Internet Marketing Blog, examines search results pages at Bing, Yahoo!, and Google for a search for “Gulf Oil Spill” and looks at organizations that are running search engine marketing (SEM) campaigns to gain visibility for their point of view within the search results pages in response to Beyond Petroleum’s (BP) Deepwater Horizon oil rig disaster.

Both environmental groups and those responsible for dealing with this catastrophe are deliberately trying to gain visibility for their points of view within search results.

Erickson finds that some organizations are using a deliberate search engine optimization (SEO) tactics to rank highly in the natural search results for a search for “Gulf Oil Spill” while others are placing search engine advertisements based on that search phrase.
