Notable Qualities That Employers Look For During Employee Screening
Global economic crisis made some companies downsize in terms of manpower. Because of this, many has become unemployed which made job hunting very difficult. Today, when you apply for a position, you will not be the only one. There are others who may be more qualified than you are who are also after the same position.
This is why it’s very important you have the very qualities most companies or employers look for in their employees-to-be.
One of the things employers appreciate the most in job applicants is enthusiasm. Someone with high spirits usually has a positive attitude towards work, can learn more easily and is hardworking.
Dedication is another thing employers look for in an applicant. There are workers who don’t take their jobs seriously which leads to organizations losing millions of money.
Attitude is important to employers. There are some who even hire those who have good attitude than those who are talented but have attidue problems. Attitude is something that is very hard to change while skills can be learned through training.
A job applicant who has good communication skills also usually stands out among other job hopefuls. Employers generally like employees who have good listening skills and are able to express themselves clearly and to the point, both in speaking and in writing. Someone who is patient, a fast learning and able to follow instructions properly are also going to stand a very good chance at getting hired.
In any business, productivity is very important. An applicant who gives an impression that he can easily follow instruction correctly and can finish a job on or before the due date has a higher chance of being accepted.
Work ethics is also very important. Applicants should not make promises that they can’t keep because employers don’t appreciate that. For instance, when an employee promises to finish a task at a certain time, then he should be able to deliver.
Applicants sually undergo psychological, mental and behavioral tests or exams which are facilitated by the employers. These tests would usually include reasoning to personality tests and even to technical battery tests. Companies in general do background checks on their job applicants. There are many ways of screening an applicant but for those companies that don’t have the time to put up their own department to handle this job, they can always hire another company that specializes in it.
If you are hiring people for your business and would like to maintain competence and a good workplace culture among them, you must be able to implement an effective job screening process. Employee screening services are either done by your company in-house or provided by another company specializing in workforce management just like the student retention services in schools.
