I am starting a web marketing blog + looking for a couple of contributors.Any ideas where I can find ppl?
Like a message board or something….
Hi,
I can join and post from time to time for fun. But it is better to go to some popular forums and to ask members to join. It will be more helpful to the blog. Check webmaster-talk.com
How the hell do people make money blogging? Could someone give me step by step directions?
I didn’t ask for information that I’d have to pay to get. If that guy selling the ebook was so rich with blogging he’d give the ebook away for free.
It is possible to make money as a blogger, but it won’t happen over night, it does take persistance and a willingness to learn and stick at it.
To start you need to decide on what you would like to blog about, preferably something you already have some knowledge about, but make sure you pick a topic that is fairly popular so that there will be lots of other people who are interested in it.
To get people to start visiting your new blog you not only need to post to it regularly, you should also take part in BlogCarnivals and visit other popular blogs in the same "market" and leave good quality comments in reply to other peoples posts.
You can also use social bookmarking sites (such as Digg, StumbleUpon and Del.icio.us) to get more interest in your posts and new visitors.
Once you start getting visitors to your blog you can then start to "monetize" your blog in a variety of ways: -
1. Google AdSense – where you place a bit of code on your blog, which then displays adverts that are relevant to your content, and if a visitor to your site clicks on the advert you will get a share of the revenue from Google, the actual amount varies a great deal according to the "topic", for example "mortgage" related ads will earn more than adverts about Tattoos, but the flip side is it’s easier to get traffic for Tattoos than for mortgages.
2. Selling Adverts – As mentioned in a previous answer, this is only really viable as your blog becomes more popular and recieves more visitors, but when that happens it can be a failry significant income.
3. Selling Links – This is discouraged by Google, but once your blog has PageRank of 3 or higher you can start selling text links on your blog and it can be a good, recurring, "hands free" income.
4. Affiliate Marketing – This is the simplest way to start. You can find products where the owner will pay you a commission whenever you send them someone who buys their product, often as high as 50% with information products (ebooks) from sites like Clickbank.com.
All you need to do is write a review of the product with a recommendation and include your affiliate link.
Obviously you should choose products that are related to the topic of your blog, for instance if you write a blog about dogs then you can recommend products that are of interest to dog owners.
5. List Building/Running a Newsletter – For long term profits the best method by far is to start a newsletter. You can encourage people to sign up for your newsletter by offering a free report (e.g. top 10 puppy training tips), and once people subscribe to your newsletter you can send them offers for more affiliate products each week.

Is there any commercial benefit in getting more & more visitors to my website if I don’t sell anything online?
Or for that matter, if I don’t sell anything at all?
Do I profit from the number of visitors if I have just put up a personal website, say for blogging? If Yes, what benefit?
If No, then why are there so many sites on web that seems to just lure you into clicking on their weblink for no real reason?
There was even a website attracting people for ‘Click on links and get paid’.
There are many websites that make a LOT of money without actually selling anything. The money is made by advertisers placing ads on your site. There are several different types of ads, some pay a certain amount for each visitor that the site has. You get paid a small amount everytime someone looks at your page. These aren’t huge amount, usually only $0.01 or $0.02 per visitor, but if you have several of these ads and your site is getting 10s of thousands of visitors a month, it adds up quickly.
Other advertisers will place an ad on your site and give you a comission of anything that is bought by people that go to the advertisers site through yours. So somebody is browsing your site, clicks on the ad, ends up making a purchase and you get a percentage of the sale. The comission percentage can very greatly depending on the advertiser.
What is the best free wiki without advertising that will host pages for my blog?

How do you make money from blogging?
I have heard that you can make money from blogging, but i really don’t understand the concept. How do you make the money? How much can you make? Is it hard? Is it easy? Is it time consuming? Is it worth it? If you could answer that would be great, thanks.
Hello Patrick,
Thanks for posting this question.
Infamous, Minh, Belinda, Miss Expert have covered some great topics!
In addition to what they have already covered, here’s my 50 cents:
How do you make the money?
>> The best way is to take a course from someone who is already an expert. It’ll save you weeks of time, effort and money.
How much can you make?
>> A four or five figure per month income depending on how much effort you put into your blog.
Is it hard? Is it easy?
>> Well, like any new concept it has a learning curve (probably a few days). Once you know the basics, its really easy…
Is it time consuming?
>> Nope. I spend about 30 minutes on my blog every time I post something. Usually two or three times every week.
Is it worth it?
>> Absolutely. Blogs are FREE, and Search engines love them. It is the easiest way to get organic traffic without spending a dime.
Patrick, assuming you want your blog to rake in cash, you’re going to have to go about it in the right way. Sure, you could probably manage to make a little bit of money here and there simply via advertisement revenue and by promoting certain offers – but this probably isn’t going to bring in the sort of riches that you dream of.
Truth is, if you’re set on making as much cash as you can from your blog, you’re going to need to ensure that you’ve covered all your bases and have tweaked them so that every aspect of your money making process is performing in tip top condition.
How do you do that? Well, the best place to start is to look at each ingredient of a successful money making blog individually:
1. Traffic ========
More traffic normally means more sales. At least, it definitely means more potential customers which in turn means that you should be making more sales than previously. Course, traffic is a very wide topic and there are countless ways in which you could generate it – so what you need to do is pursue as many of these as possible.
While you’re at it you should also be aware that you’re looking for as highly targeted traffic as you can. Using keywords, you should find that you’re able to achieve this well.
2. Conversion Rates ========
How many of the potential customers that visit your blog actually end up buying stuff from it? In a nutshell, that’s your conversion rate (though it is normally measured as a percentage, i.e. X% meaning X sales per 100 potential customers). Ensuring that your conversion rate is as high as possible is an extremely good idea because it means that you’re going to be taking advantage of more of your traffic.
By capitalizing on as much of your traffic as possible, you’ll be getting the most out of your efforts, and not ‘wasting’ any of the traffic you’ve worked so hard to obtain.
3. Repeat Customers ========
Having made the effort to clinch a sale with one customer, it would be a crying shame if you simply let them leave and never hear from them again. Seeing as they’ve already bought something from you it means that they are interested in the niche that you’re in, and more importantly – they’re willing to buy products in that niche!
So if you could just take down their details, you should be able to turn them into repeat customers (or at least stand a good chance of doing so).
Yes, we’re talking about list building, though nowadays using things such as Twitter can be just as good. End of the day, the choice is yours so long as you’re able to set up some system whereby you can continue to market to your proven buyers.
If you’re able to take care of each and every one of these key ingredients, you’ll quickly find that you’re able to turn your own blog into a successful money making blog too! None of this is really all that tough, and now that you know what you should be looking at, why don’t you head over to your own blog and see what you can improve!

Own Your Blog or Else! Easy WordPress Install
Watch this video tutorial and see how simple it is to get online with a blog today!
Create a blog using free software from wordpress.org and get tips on why, if you want to become a serious blogger, if you want to make money with your blog or, if you want to control your blog, then using free blogs such as blogger.com or wordpress.com is NOT an option … You must own your blog.
Here’s why …if you use hosted solutions such as blogger.com or wordpress.com, they can delete your site without your permission and there is nothing you can do about it. Also, using hosted sites to host your blog means that you have limited opportunities of monetizing your blog because some of them don’t allow you to make the most of advertising with say Google AdSense.
WordPress.com for example makes it very clear that it is against their terms of service to commercialize your WordPress.com hosted blog by hosting paid advertising and will result in your blog being deleted.
In fact, I’ve just been reading one forum where there is a reader called “Rainmaker” and he seems to have made it his job to report people who are commercializing their WordPress blogs and within no time, their sites have been deleted by WordPress. So don’t say you haven’t been warned.
What you need to do is go to WordPress.org and download their free software and then upload the software to the server where you have your own hosting account, using your own domain name. Alternatively, you can use the automated feature found in many control panel web hosts – fantastico.
So, whilst WordPress is the software I recommend for your blogs, you should not confuse this with their hosted solutions where you simply log into their control panel, create a user name and password and suddenly, you have a blog that in my view, you don’t own.
The software that you download from WordPress.org is quite simply powerful and, once I show you how, you’ll realize it’s also easy to use and in my opinion is unparalleled in the blog software world. WordPress is not only my software of choice it is used my many of the top Internet Marketers because it’s simple enough for the newbie to use, yet sophisticated enough for the pro blogger.
WordPress has a huge library of plugins that allows users to instantly add features, and functions to give it even more flexibility and, when you add up all these elements you end up with a program that is fully capable of creating highly attractive blogs that encourage people to visit the site and stay to read whatever is posted on it. If you ever wanted powerful blog software that was able to give you the opportunity of creating a more unique look and feel, WordPress is it.
To get Get Started With A WordPress Blog and assuming you’re going to go along with my recommendation of building a WordPress blog on your own hosting account, you’ll need a domain name which you can get from godaddy.com and a hosting account which you can get from hostgator.com.

How can I get free search engine marketing?
Or if there is no such thing, what is the cheapest route to go to get customers to your website?
I think that the best is build back-links with your keywords in the anchor of the links. Usually you can build them posting in blogs comments but with your niche site it is a little difficult to find blogs that are related to it (they must be related). So I should write articles that link to your site and should send them to sites like ezinearticles.com (it really works).
Second I should build 2 blogs in blogger.com and lenses in squidoo.com with this rules:
Your keywords in the title, and 3 or 4 times in the body of each article in the links to your site. The articles always related to the main theme of your site,
If you can write some good content in your site and then social-bookmark it (digg, mister wong, stumble,…) With you aren’t targeting to get people from this sites to go to your site, but you will have a back-link from a site with a very nice Pagerank so Google will notice this.
Finally, if you aren’t subscribed to webmaster tools and google analytics, subscribe your site and send the sitemap.xml. If you don’t have any, you will have to create one, because is esential for Google to index correctly your site. Have in mind that in the sitemap you can tel Google when do you want google robot to visit you next time, and you can set a frequency for each page.
http://tinyurl.com/spiderden : In this site you can buy traffic. If you are in hurry this is an option.
http://tinyurl.com/wildseo Here you can find a good reading to learn how to rank in msn, yahoo and google.
http://tinyurl.com/s3o-elit3 Finally this is a powerful tool that perhaps you know. It has been created for ranking in Google playing with keywords.
I hope this tools may help you!
Good luck!
How can a person become a Search Engine Optimization/ Marketing consultant? What course or books are required?
I’d like to know what sort of training and materials are required to become a search Engine Optimization/ Marketing consultant.
SEO Books will be outdated very quickly. Your best source is to first have an excellent understanding of web development, html, asp, design concepts and design standards.
You need to take online courses. These can be expensive from the top online schools but worth it in the end. You need to sign up fro the best feeds, ezines, forums that are online.
You need to be familiar with Google webmaster guidelines, ppc, link building, sem and social networking.
You have to know how to market yourself as a professional. You best bet is after training find a mentor who can guide you and teach you the ropes.
Learn how to search for what you are looking for as well. If you want to do SEO and SEM, then know how to find best information online. There are many and what I feel is best you may not based on your time, budgets and so on. So do some heavy research and reading as that will help you grow as well.
What is your opinion of Yahoo helping China jail dissident journalists?
It seems Yahoo and others have been "complying with local laws" in China and elsewhere by helping the Chinese government capture, prosecute and sentance (10+ years) those blogging, publishing differing views and criticizing local authorities.
Is it ok since if they did not Yahoo and others would not be allowed to operate there. obviously taking a great hit in the profit department.
See here and links on bottom of page as well: http://www.boingboing.net/2006/03/01/report_verdict_confi.html
Anyone have any idea why my question is halfway down the page?
I am German so the argument that a company just has to follow the rule of the land doesn’t strike me as an especially good one: A lot of companies in Germany profited from the incarceration and mass murder of Jews in the Third Reich (IG Farben, which was broken up after the war, was able to get a concentration camp build for them so they could use Jewish forced labor). In the Nuremburg trials after the war the argument of the allies against the war criminals was that following orders and laws that were against basic human rights is not a viable excuse. I would have to aggree with that one.
It seems this idea has fallen out of practice. Moral relativism rules the land – everybody has a right to their beliefs and rules, no matter how horrid (female circumstition seen as cultural heritage, "honor murders" accepted as a way to defend ones personal honor, unwillingness to consider anti-semitism as anything but one of many choices). Nowadays, any government and/or company seems to be using the argument that in order to keep in a "dialog" with whatever oppressive regime they just have to go along with what this regime wants.
So, where does it stop? If Yahoo "working with" the Chinese government is alright now, is it still allright if the Chinese execute some dissidents (as they have done in the past)? How far are we willing to cede human rights in order to stay "competitive"?
As you can tell from the tone of my posting, I am firmly against this practice. It seems for the allmighty profit we are perfectly willing to make a pact with the devil – any devil will do. Let’s just hope these devils never turn against us – as has happened in the past.
